When you look out at the skies at night, what do you see? Starlight. From millions of stars. And that’s just the light that’s arrived here at one point in time. You can see every star, every planet, in one point of time, and never get the full picture. So really, the question isn’t where… but when.

I like to spot sentences that have probably never been uttered. This hobby is like fishing but without the inconvenience of the wet outdoors. The trick is that the unique sentences have to be natural, not just a bunch of random words strung together. Take for example the following question: Did you hear about the Egyptian turd of a man who named his daughter, “Facebook”? That sentence qualifies even though I wrote it myself, because the event actually happened.

They say change is awkward — at first. I don’t know who “they” are. Change is a muscle that develops to abundantly enjoy the dynamics of the life set before us. Change calls own strength beyond anyone of us. Change pushes you to do your personal best. Change draws out those poised for a new way. Change isn’t for chickens. Change does have casualties of those defeated. Change will cause us to churn or to learn. Change changes the speed of time. Time is so slow for the reluctant, and yet it is a whirlwind for those who embrace it. Change is more fun to do than to be done to. Change seeks a better place at the end and is complete when you realize you are different.

Gandhi would say we should be the change we want to see in the world. Cesar the Dog Whisperer would say the dog only calms down when the owner does. My old English teacher, Vijay would say people clearly ask for what they want, and all you need to do is listen. All of those guys might be wrong. It might be true, that the come situations are genuinely insane, and force is the only realistic way to change things.

In 1783, Napoleon Bonaparte made a bet with Marie Louise that he could make the perfect omelette. The secret he explained was to flip the omelette and catch it in the frying pan. When Napoleon flipped the omelette, it fell to the ground and legend has it that this was Napoleon’s first defeat. You may not be able to beat history but you surely can shape the future.

Stephen Edwin King once wrote, “Nightmares exist outside of logic and there is little fun to be had in explanations”.

Nightmares are antithetical to the poetry of fear. In the horror story the victim keeps asking why. But there is no explanation and there shouldn’t be one. The unanswered mystery is what stays with us the longest. And it is what we will remember in the end.

I have always had a vivid imagination but this dream unsettled me. It was wild, dark and weird even by my standards. So yes it began with a dream.

Following a typical nightmare pattern, I was late, desperately trying to reach my destination; A Light house, for some urgent reason that I couldn’t remember. I had been driving too fast down a coastal road to get there. I had seen the hitchhiker too late. He was dead, I was convinced they would put me in jail and i would never see her again.

Suddenly his body was gone. I was in shock from the crash and could hardly stay on my feet. But i knew i had to get to the light house. The light house, i knew there was something important waiting for me there. She was there, but I couldn’t remember her face or her voice. All that I could remember were fleeing memories of golden smiles, and graceful but subtle hand movements. And so i ran, towards the light house.
