Stanley “Tookie” Williams

I am glad to see that Arnold had the balls to uphold the death penalty for Stanley “Tookie” Williams. I expected this outcome as did many people (I would hope). To grant Mr. Williams clemency for the crimes he committed in 1979 would be such a travesty of what so many people (yes men and woman) died for protecting our nations beliefs.

I watched in disbelief as interview after interview with people barely old enough to remember the crimes stating that it doesn’t matter what he did back then because of the work he has done since his incarceration. Doesn’t matter? Tell that to the wife and two children of the 26 year old (veteran) who was forced at gun point to lie face down on the floor at the convenience store he worked at so Tookie could pump two rounds from a 12 guage shotgun that killed him. I don’t know about you but I think that it would matter to me if that were my Father/Brother/Son. Tell the relatives of the family that were sleeping in their hotel room at 4:00 AM when AGAIN Tookie busted in and immediately started shooting from the same 12 Guage shotgun that killed the store clerk, killed a family of three. He shot one of them (a 40 year old woman) in the face and blew half her head off. Have you ever seen someone with their head blown half off? Well maybe if you had and knew that Tookie was the cause of that you wouldn’t feel that a couple of children’s books is redemption for crimes of this sort.

I am glad to see that a convicted murderer found the time during his incarceration to find some compassion in his life and want to do some good before his time to go. I wonder if Tookie would be in the same position had he not been caught and punished for these crimes. Would he still be preaching non-violence? Or would there have been more people slaughtered in another crime spree? Thankfully we don’t have to guess and Mr. Williams was caught, convicted and sentenced to die for his crimes. I feel bad for him right now and hope he has made his peace with God because that’s the only one who can forgive him now. The state of California hasn’t and rightfully so.

You cannot just re-write our judicial system because of some media attention and some atonement after the fact. If I were a convicted pedofile and was sentenced to 10 years in prison and during that time preached how wrong it is to be with under age children, would you let me babysit your children when I got out? Why not? I wrote a book for children on how to say no when that happens to them…I’m reformed!!

Cheers.

ps: Thanks for the article Kane . You read my mind.

Ya, its sad that the man has to die, even after he has done so much good.

But it was also sad that the 4 people also died, from murder.

Would he be this way was it not for the fact that he was caught?

God knows how many people would have died had he not been good.

    Tookie has to die.
