Ok ok,
So the Man UTD and Everton match was on ESPN live yesterday. Ended in a draw
Read More about the game here.
And then i reached the office today. And God people had alot of things to say about Man Utd.
Friend: Hey Tomato, Did you watch the game last night?
Tomato: Ya man the World Chess competition was hot.
Friend: No no, the Man Utd - Everton match, lah!
Tomato: O that, yes i did. Good fast game, draw game man.
Friend: Damn Man Utd, they deserved a win. Everton is so sucky.
Tomato: O, are they now
Friend: Ya man, ….
( He promptly started to explain Man Utd’s cultures, tradition and skills – As though he lived there).
I cant get his problem. Yes, he’s a devils fan and he loves his club im sure. But the serious soccer fan as he calls himself fails to see a few facts.
If Everton were that sucky, they would be playing in the Malaysian Cup finals. And then they would lose.
A draw is a good thing. It maintains standards, makes the league’s standards rise and keep the race going.
Many a times fans, fail to see the most obvious fact of all. A very transparent factor. Blink and you will miss it.
The most important thing about the beautiful game, is the journey – not the destination. Its the flair of the game and sublime skills of the players. Its the spirit of the fans and propagation of their convictions. Then finally and lastly is the score. I support the game, never the clubs.
But then again, what can a silly childhood soccer boy like me know about the finer points of soccer.
Cheers.
ps: George Best passed on about last week. Lets observe a min of silence for him. From one soccer player to another, "ballspinner – I salute you."
